This is going to be a really noisy late spring, heck you thought backpack blowers were loud, just wait to here the males singing to seduce the females; all day and all night. The cicada will damage some plants, but in most cases the plants will recover so do not worry too much. Besides there will be MILLIONS of cicadas roaming around, good luck controlling that army.
